A wiki is an online resource, it’s development and upkeep are a collaborative effort, drawing on many areas of knowledge from all manner of individuals.

Nowadays, if we need to look up all manner of things, we will make use of a wiki to find out the facts. For companies a wiki usually begins with a summary of their current operations, details the the founding date, the founders, their path of growth over time, giving key dates for which a significant event took place when new products and services are introduced.

To see a list, take a look at our A-Z of new style domain name extensions!

For film buffs or music enthusiasts, a wiki will often link off the other pages within the wiki which give details of actors and actresses, or in the case of music, musicians, singers, band members etc and would go on to give details on their lives and career paths etc.

Wikipedia is perhaps the best known wiki on the internet but many registrants of a .wiki domain will use the same web address as their .com or .co.uk site for example but with a .wiki extension instead, as the nature of the information you will find on their wiki page is much different to the content you’ll find on their primary customer-facing website.

A .wiki isn’t just for external websites either, access is sometimes confined to an internal network and contains facts on the business and it’s services or products for employee use only.
